Dr Said Yasin, Senior Education Specialist with EAC, is an experienced international education manager and technical specialist with a strong background in early grades literacy and numeracy programming, utilizing appropriate technology including Interactive Radio Instruction and innovative platforms for delivering learning and teaching materials to expand access and improve quality of education.
Prior to joining EAC, Said was EDC’s Chief of Party (COP) for a large-scale literacy and numeracy project in Rwanda, Dr. Yasin also served as a Country Director for EDC projects in Somalia, COP on the USAID Somali Youth Livelihoods Program, COP on the Somali Interactive Radio Instruction Program, and COP of the Interactive Radio Instruction for Somalis in Ethiopia. Dr. Yasin has practical knowledge in the design and implementation of literacy and numeracy programming. Leading and supporting technical staff responsible for content and material development, teacher training, and program broadcast, he has ensured programmatic success. Dr Yasin has worked closely with local and regional education authorities in the design and implementation of educational programs.
Dr Yasin holds a doctoral degree in Administrative and Policy Studies in Education from the University of Pittsburgh’s International Development Education Program, and a Master’s degree in Education Policy Studies and Planning and Evaluation from the same university. Said has authored a number of education focused publications and is fluent in English and Somali.
