Mr Michael Cacich is Senior Education Specialist for Africa at Educate A Child. He is an international development professional who has held senior-level positions in Africa, Latin America, and in Washington, DC over the last 25 years with a variety of non-governmental organizations, U.S. government agencies, and international donors. Mr. Cacich has over two decades of technical experience in education as a project manager, researcher and practitioner.
As a senior manager, Mr. Cacich has worked on complex education development programs throughout Africa working closely with host governments, partners, and stakeholders at many levels. He is experienced in working in challenging environments having worked in post-Apartheid South Africa and in South Sudan following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005. He is particularly passionate about his work at the grassroots, bringing education to underserved, marginalized communities through positions which included volunteering as a teacher in Botswana, empowering Q’ero communities of the high-Peruvian Andes, and supporting the organizational strengthening of local NGOs in many countries.
Mr. Cacich holds a MA in International Development from the American University and a BS in Geology and Anthropology from the University of Illinois. He has lived and worked for more than fifteen years in nine different African and Latin American countries.
