Dr Karen Bryner is director of the EAC technical department, managing the work of new partnership development and monitoring the technical aspects of EAC partner projects. Dr. Bryner is an education specialist with more than 18 years of professional and academic experience in research and international education development. She has fulfilled assignments for Harvard Graduate School of Education, the World Bank, and domestic and international NGOs in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia working with ministries of education and NGOs.
Prior to joining Educate A Child, Dr. Bryner assisted in the planning and management of training workshops in Ghana and Thailand and research projects in Egypt, Jordan, and Ecuador. For the World Bank and USAID, she has prepared reports covering specific educational issues as well as education sector overviews for African and Middle Eastern countries. Her most recent research focused on Islamic education in Indonesia where she designed and implemented two qualitative research projects.
Dr. Bryner earned a BS degree in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education from Brigham Young University; a Masters from Harvard Graduate School of Education in International Education; and Masters and PhD degrees in International Comparative Education & Anthropology from Teachers College, Columbia University. She speaks English, Indonesian, and Spanish.
